Hello! My name is Lindsey Sanders. I am the special education resource teacher and intervention specialist for 4th and 5th grade at Bancroft. This is my second year at Bancroft and I have worked for the Minneapolis Public Schools since 2006. I began as a special education assistant as I went back to school to receive my teaching license and Masters Degree in special education from Augsburg College. My undergraduate degree is from Bethel University. I have a Kindergarten through twelfth grade teaching license in special education.

I am so happy to be at Bancroft and excited about the students I have the opportunity to work with. I work mostly with small groups and am working with the fourth and fifth grade teachers to incorporate and support IB units as much as possible in our groups. I love working in an IB school and incorporating the IB profile and attitudes into my small groups. I am passionate about seeing students grow and learn. My favorite thing about teaching is when a light bulb goes off and something that a student has struggled with starts making sense for them. That moment is what inspires my teaching.

This year I have the opportunity to coteach math with the fourth and fifth grade classroom teachers. This has allowed me to differentiate grade level material to be more accessible to the students I work with. I also am able to see what gaps students have in their understanding and can help to fill in these gaps.

When I am not teaching, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my daughter, Hazel, and my husband, Matt. My daughter is two years old and is so much fun right now. I love watching her play and learn. I grew up in Minneapolis and love exploring finding new things to do in the city.

Please feel free to email me any time, lindsey.sanders@mpls.k12.mn.us. You can also reach me by calling the office, 612-668-3550. I look forward to hearing from you!
