About Me

Hi Families and Students!

My name is Emily Kramer Torres. I am the 4th grade ELL teacher.  I am proud to be apart of this amazing IB World School.  I love teaching through the IB lens!  We are able to go deeper into understanding our standards through the units of inquiry.

As the 4th grade ELL teacher I co-plan and co-teach IB content with the 4th grade team and work with students in small groups.  My goals are to provide students with tools to develop their academic English and make content accessible. I am also committed to making school a fun and meaningful place for every young person!

Here are some fun facts about me:

•   I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

•   I graduated from St.Olaf College in 2007 and received my K-12 ESL teaching license.

•   I am getting masters in Youth Development Leadership at the University of Minnesota.

•   I taught with the St.Olaf GEAR UP College Access Program for four years.

•   I taught ELL middle school Social Studies for a year.

•   I co-taught 5th grade for two years.

•   I became the 4th grade ELL teacher at Bancroft in 2014.

•   I have a wonderful husband, Jesús.

•   I love to spend time with family and friends, workout and travel!

Another important goal of mine is to work closely with the families of the students I work with.  Please introduce yourself if you see me in the hallway at school and contact me with any questions :).

Looking forward to a great year!
