Bancroft IB News

GREAT NEWS!  We are excited to announce that Bancroft will continue as an IB-PYP school for the 2021-2022 school year! Although the implementation of the Comprehensive District Design means that we will no longer be an IB magnet school and our attendance zone will change, Bancroft will continue to offer IB programming as a community school.

We are so grateful to the Bancroft PTO, Site Council, and countless others for your advocacy of our school and programming. We thank you for all you do to support Bancroft school and the IB program that we are deeply committed to for all of our students.  It is such a privilege to be partners in this work with you as we look forward to what the future holds for Bancroft!

Bancroft is an authorized IB World School offering the International Baccalureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP)!

What is the Primary Years Programme (PYP)?  The PYP is a world-renowned curricular framework designed to encourage students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens.  The Primary Years Programme targets learners in preschool through fifth grade, giving them a global perspective and it aims to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational evironment for all children.

The framework of the PYP is based on an understanding of how children learn and how the brain works.  It allows for flexibility in our choice of content as we work to achieve our school's standards and it connects our school to a wider school and community network.  Like the curriculum already established here at Bancroft, the PYP consists of the written curriculum, the taught curriculum and the assessed curriculum.

Bancroft Elementary provides students with a strong academic foundation as critical thinkers who choose and act responsibly with respect for self, community, and the environment.
