CDD Transition for 2021-2022

To our Bancroft Families:

The MPS Comprehensive District Design will be implemented for the 2021-2022 school year. Next week, you should receive a letter or email from MPS with information about your child’s assigned community school for next year. We at Bancroft hope we can support your family in the CDD transition.

  • Under CDD, Bancroft will no longer be a magnet school, but will retain its IB programming. As such, our attendance area shrinks dramatically. The new attendance area for Bancroft will be demarcated by Lake Street, Cedar Avenue, 42nd Street, and Chicago Avenue. (See Map attached Bancroft Attendance Area 2021-22.png ) Students living outside that area will be automatically assigned a new community school. You can input your address to see your school attendance zone/map and school options here: https://exploremps.org
  • There are city-wide magnet school options as well: STEM, dual language, environmental, arts.
  • The School Request process opens on Dec. 5th and ends on Feb. 7th. The virtual School Request Kick-Off is on Dec. 5, 10am-12:30pm https://mpls.k12.mn.us/request-kickoff.html   There will be a question & answer session in the last hour or so.
  • If your student lives outside the Bancroft attendance zone, you can submit a request to MPS to attend Bancroft. However, there are no guarantees it will be accepted.
    • Families would have to transport their student (no busing).
    • After all school requests are submitted (by Feb. 7, 2021), Student Placement will utilize their placement priorities to finalize enrollment.

We know you will have questions - and we hope we can answer them!

The CDD transition will be discussed at the PTO meeting on Monday, Nov. 30th - 5:30pm on Zoom: MEETING COMPLETED

And at Coffee, Tea & IB on Friday, Dec. 4th - 8:00-9:00am in Google Meets
