COVID-19 Response

Bancroft Families,

As a community, let us hold fast and support each other as best we can.

Minneapolis Public Schools has published its COVI-19 contingency plans, including a meal distribution plan, at this link. Green Central, Folwell, Roosevelt, and Hale are the closest pickup sites to our school. But there might be others closer to your homes. Make sure to look at the map.  

There are also food shelves who can help fill the gaps, as needed. Some are based on residency. All require some type of registration. Many food shelves are changing processes this week, moving to pre-bagged food items to minimize contact, accommodate for reductions of staff and volunteers, and speed processes to meet increased demand. These links have been verified.

If you can, please consider donating food, baby items, or paper grocery bags to these or other food shelves.
Bancroft has internet resources on their website. There are pockets of online activity and strategies for keeping our students active, engaged and calm during this period. 
Additionally, the MPS Board meetings for the rest of March are cancelled. CDD documents will be provided on March 24 and public materials (including narrated slides) will be released March 27. The board will consider the CDD proposals at its April 14 meeting with a vote scheduled for the April 28 Special Business meeting. 
Our March PTO meeting is cancelled.
And finally, depending on how this situation changes, the 2020 Plant Sale will be postponed and may be cancelled.

Who We Are

The Bancroft PTO exists for family members and guardians of students at Bancroft. We organize events that bring students and families together to engage in conversations around issues that impact students and their learning experience. The Bancroft PTO conducts fundraisers throughout the school year and supports the school's students with an annual budget of $25,000.

The PTO typically meets the last Monday of each month in the Bancroft media center from 5:30-7:00pm. A light meal and childcare are provided. NEW THIS YEAR - All meetings are now video broadcast live. Supporting a Diverse Student Body

The PTO supports Bancroft's students with an annual budget of $25,000. Some of the projects we help fund are:

  • Read-A-Thon (October 14-27)
    This is a fun way to get kids excited about reading! Check out Read-A-Thon details here. Sponsor a child financially online today!
  • Book Fair (October, during conferences)
    This year, we are trying out a local book store book fair for the first time! The funds raised through this event will be used to purchase books to give to kids who do not have books at home and for incentives for classroom and school wide projects. We want to encourage kids to read. Kids who have books at home read more and reading increases literacy skills. This book fair is a great way to support a local business and get high interest books into more homes.
